My Life as a Turkey

In honor of the Feast of St. Francis

It was exhausting, enlightening and one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. – Joe Hutto

Based upon a true story, this thought-provoking film shares the daily living of Joe Hutto (wildlife artist and naturalist) who became a turkey mother to 16 wild turkey chicks in the deep woods of Florida for more than one year. The film is based upon Joe’s book, Illumination in the Flatwoods, the journal he kept during this time of raising Sweet Pea, Turkey Boy and the others and how he develops a new level of awareness and sensitivity to his young family. We are given a beautifully photographed peek into the engaging story of an unlikely relationship between species.

In this gathering we will watch the one hour film together and share dialog afterwards about our own ways of communing better with nature and with one another.
