Wisdom of the Desert: Entering the Space of Solitude

The stark beauty of the desert invites us into the space of solitude in which we may encounter the wisdom of our own hearts and also learn from those who have entered this space before us. The Jewish, Muslim, and Christian traditions and scripture are rich with stories of the encounter with the Sacred in the space of solitude the desert offers.  The desert landscape itself can serve as a rich metaphor for our own journey through time and space and can help us enter more deeply into the wisdom and compassion to be found there.

This contemplative retreat will include time for sitting meditation as well as time for exploring the many desert trails that are available to retreatants at the Redemptorist Center for Spiritual Renewal.
