“Pilgrimage is often regarded as the universal quest for self. Though the form of the path changes from culture to culture, through different epochs of history, one element remains the same: renewal of the soul."
-Phil Cousineau, The Art of Pilgrimage

Join spiritual guide and wisdom teacher, Patty Speier, Executive Director of the Seton Cove, and Carl McQueary, art historian, instructor, archivist , and sought after travel guide to France, as they introduce you to the transformative power of curated experiences of the art and soul of France. We will travel together not as tourists but as pilgrims who are open to giving themselves to the providence of the journey.

As pilgrims we are attentive and responsive to what the journey offers. When we open ourselves to the journey we discover that the truth—when really perceived and not just described—is always a wonder.

Through the use of poetry, wisdom teachings, and spiritual practices, Carl and Patty will facilitate the discovery of your own deeper relationship to the places we will visit and increase your awareness of the presence of the Sacred in yourself, your fellow pilgrims and how this Presence is manifested in art, architecture and the every-day life of Paris.

Experiences of the Pilgrimage include: The Notre-Dame Cathedral; The Basilica of Sacré Coeur; The Chapel of the Miraculous Medal; concert at Ste. Chapelle; full-day excursion to the magnificent Cathedral and Labyrinth at Chartres; Paris Orangerie Museum to see Monet’s murals of the water lilies; excursion to the Monet House and Gardens; the Musée Picasso and Musée d’Orsay; visits to the Vincential Motherhouse and the Daughters of Charity Motherhouse; free time to explore Paris at your desired pace; and more.

mcphee david sloan wilsonDavid Sloan Wilson is trained as an evolutionary biologist and has played an important role in expanding Darwin’s theory beyond the biological sciences to include all aspects of humanity. He is best known for championing Multilevel Selection Theory, which explains how adaptations can evolve—or fail to evolve—at any level of a multi-tier hierarchy, such as from genes to ecosystems in nature and small groups to global governance in human society.

LECTURE OCTOBER 17 (TH) 7-8:30pm

Steering toward the Omega Point: Managing Cultural Evolution for the Global Good

The scientist and Jesuit priest Pierre Teilhard de Chardin (1881-1955) coined the term “Omega Point” to refer to a global consciousness that humanity was evolving toward. In a more practical vein, everyone can agree on the need for good governance at a global scale, even if there is widespread disagreement and confusion on how to get there.

WORKSHOP OCTOBER 18 (F) 8:30am-3pm

Prosocial: A Practical Framework for Managing Cultural Evolution in any Group or Business Setting

People use words such as “evolve” and “adapt” all the time when referring to the need for positive change. Prosocial is the first practical positive change method based on the latest developments of evolutionary science. It is a multi-level approach that can be applied at the Micro (single groups), Meso (multi-group cultural ecosystems), and Macro (the global good and ultimate level of implementation) scales.

Prosocial: A Practical Framework for Managing Cultural Evolution in any Group or Business Setting

People use words such as “evolve” and “adapt” all the time when referring to the need for positive change. Developed by scientists, combining robust bodies of research from evolutionary theory, economics, political science, and the applied behavioral sciences, Prosocial Design Method provides a set of practical tools to help individuals and groups of all types and sizes function better and adapt to ever-changing environments.

Studies have shown that neither the individual attributes of their members nor even the coaching from their leaders are what create the most effective teams. The critical success factors are the interactions within the team itself.

Annual Contemplative Retreat in Tucson, Arizona

Join Patty Speier, Executive Director of Seton Cove and Senior Director of Formation for Ascension Health, at the stunningly beautiful Redemptorist Renewal Center in the Sonoran Desert of Arizona as she leads us through an exploration of the work of two classic contemporary spiritual teachers, the Christian Benedictine nun, Joan Chittister and Zen priest and poet, Norman Fischer. In their latest books Chittister and Fischer describe how contemplative practice helps us respond from a generous and spacious place to the chaotic disruptions of the current political landscape. We will practice silence, meditation, and reflective discussion in this five day contemplative retreat. Please join us; the world needs your imagination and contemplative consciousness.
