Dropping the Struggle: A Quiet Day in the Texas Hill Country

“Our true place is where we find rest. We are borne toward it by love…”
~ St. Augustine

Fall and winter are the seasons of emptying and letting go, dying to the old and making space for the new. For this quiet day we will use Roger Housden’s new book, Dropping the Struggle: Seven Ways to Love the Life You Have. Housden is the author of Ten Poems to Change Your Life as well as many other fine books of poetry and commentary on it. In this new book he uses poetry and his commentary to help us drop the struggles with perfection, change, time and love, and relax into being our authentic, and true self. Early in a new year seems the perfect time to take a break and move into a day of quit contemplation and reflection. Our day will include contemplative prayer, time for journaling, walking the labyrinth or strolling in nature, all in the lovely setting of the Red Corral Ranch.
