What is Spiritual Direction?
Spiritual Direction intentionally promotes the spiritual life. It focuses on developing and nurturing our relationship with the mystery we call God, thus helping us to become who we are.
Spiritual Direction strengthens the connection between our ego and the God within us, and helps us to pay attention to and respond to the “still, small voice within.”
Spiritual Direction can heighten our awareness of the Sacred in the world around us and help us to incorporate the spiritual into our daily lives.
Spiritual Direction is not:
- psychotherapy or pastoral counseling
- about fixing anything
- about problem solving
Who is Spiritual Direction for?
Spiritual Direction is for all seekers of a deeper knowledge of and relationship with the Holy. To be on the search for meaning and authenticity in your life is the only requirement for being in Spiritual Direction.
Spiritual Direction is for everyday people struggling in the midst of a culture that primarily values radical consumerism and external monitors over the internal wisdom of the heart.
The Seton Cove
The Seton Cove is a non-profit, interfaith center for spirituality in Austin, Tx, named for Elizabeth Ann Seton, the American foundress of the Daughters of Charity. Rooted in Judeo-Christian values and founded on the principles of St. Vincent de Paul that find God in ordinary events of everyday life, the center reaches out to the poor in spirit and those seeking to enrich their relationship with God, self, others, and all creation.
Our mission is to provide a welcoming place of solace and hospitality where people of any faith may nourish and foster their spiritual growth and journey toward wholeness.
